    WHAT IS AN INFRINGEMENT NOTICE?

    An infringement notice is commonly known as a traffic ticket. It is a notice issued by an issuing authority letting an alleged infringer know that they have contravened a traffic law. An infringement notice can either be written and issued to an alleged infringer on the side of the road or ot can be an electronic infringement issued to an alleged infringer through via mail.

    WHERE CAN I PAY FOR YOUR AARTO INFRINGEMENT FINE?

    You can pay for your AARTO infringement/fine at any:

    Cash payments can be made at
    • ABSA
    • Post office
    • Relevant issuing authorities; and
    • Checkers, Shoprite, SPAR, Usave


    Online payment can be made through
    • FNB
    • Standard Bank
    • ABSA
    • www.payfine.co.za
    • www.aarto.gov.za

    All you need is your 16 digit infringement notice number as a reference number. Please also note that these payment platforms may charge you additional convenience fees.

    CAN I PAY FOR MY FINE AT AN ISSUING AUTHORITY OR LICENCING DEPARTMENT OUTSIDE OF GAUTENG?

    No. You can only pay for your fine at any ABSA, or selected post offices outside of Gauteng. Please enquire at your nearest post office. If you experience any difficulties please contact the RTIA on 087 285 0562/0459.

    HOW DO I CHECK MY INFRINGEMENT STATUS?

    You can visit www.aarto.gov.za, click the ‘query my fine’ option on the left hand site of the webpage alternatively you can call the RTIA call centre on 086 122 7861. Please have your ID number or the relevant infringment notice number ready when enquiring about your fine.

    HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE MY PAYMENT REFLECTS ON THE NATIONAL CONTRAVENTIONS REGISTER (NCR) SYSTEM?

    Payments are allocated immediately if done at the aforementioned platforms. Please ensure that the correct 16 digit infringement notice number is used with all payments.

    WHAT IS A REPRESENTATION?

    A representation is an option open to you if you feel that the infringment was unfairly allocated to you or that you missed the 32 day window to pay 50% of your infringement or fine for a valid reason. Please note that if your representataion does fail you will be liable to pay a R200 fine over and above the full penalty.
